Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar revealed on Sunday that additional political parties are poised to align with the opposition INDIA bloc in their forthcoming gathering in Mumbai. Nitish Kumar, a pivotal figure in consolidating various parties against the BJP, didn't disclose the identities of these potential members. However, he emphasized that topics like seat-sharing arrangements would be deliberated upon during the meeting, PTI reported.
Kumar addressed the media, expressing, "The INDIA bloc's strategies for the upcoming general elections in the following year will be deliberated during the upcoming Mumbai meeting. This includes subjects such as seat-sharing, along with the finalization of various other agendas. A few more political parties are set to join our coalition."
He further emphasized, "My aim is to unite the largest possible number of parties ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. I am steadfastly working towards that goal... My personal ambitions are not a consideration."
The opposition alliance, comprising 26 parties, has been formed to collectively challenge the ruling BJP in the forthcoming central elections. The alliance has already convened twice in under a month – first in Patna on June 23, followed by a meeting in Bengaluru on July 17-18. The coalition's third meeting is scheduled for August 31 and September 1 in Mumbai.
In the meantime, CM Nitish Kumar inspected the ongoing construction of the Lohia Path Chakra near Hartali More on Bailey Road in Patna. He affirmed that the project would be finished before the Durga Puja festival. "I've been personally overseeing this project's progress. It will be concluded ahead of Durga Puja, significantly improving traffic flow in the area," he remarked.
