A 25-year-old Muslim man was assaulted for staying with a Hindu woman in Rajasthan's Barmer district on Thursday.
The victim, Padu khan, had checked in a hotel room with a middle-aged woman, about which the latter's relatives came to know about, owner of Mansarover Hotel Multan Parihar told The Indian Express.
He added that 5 persons came to the hotel and said that they would ‘address’ the issue among themselves. However, Khan was dragged out by a mob and the hotel staff informed Parihar that Shiv Sena members were present outside.
“They were chanting ‘Jai Sri Ram’ and brutally assaulting him. Had police delayed anymore, he could have been lynched,” Parihar said.
He also added that during the assault the mob said that it was a case of love-jihad. The victim was later taken to a hospital from where he was referred to Jodhpur.
Earlier in March, in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district, a mahapanchayat had decided to boycott Muslims of a village after a man eloped with a Hindu woman, reported Hindustan Times.
The police had informed that the 21-year-old woman from Khara Khera village had eloped with a Muslim man on March 13, a day before her marriage. Both of them were undergraduate students.
