Prior to the arrival of Christianity, Nagas were hunter-gatherers and several warring tribes inhabited the areas that are today parts of Nagaland. Over time, the tribes have given up their distinct primitive practices like headhunting and animism. But remnants of the old world live on in Naga villages, homes, customs and in the living memories of people.
