The minimum temperature in Delhi dropped further today while in light of the prevailing weather conditions, the administration in Uttar Pradesh's Noida and Greater Noida ordered schools to be shut for students up to Class 8 till January 6.
According to the weather department, the cold day conditions are likely to stay in north India, specifically Punjab and Haryana, till January 5. Amid the prevailing cold weather conditions across the northern region of the country, Delhi saw a drop in its minimum temperature to 6-9 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
According to the Indian Railways, 26 Delhi-bound trains were delayed amid the presence of fog in the city.

According to the weather department, the national capital saw dense to moderate fog the previous day with the air quality remaining in the 'very poor' category. However, on Wednesday morning, the visibility in Delhi was 500 metres, indicating the presence of shallow fog.
The weather department said dense to very dense fog conditions are expected during the night and morning hours in parts of Punjab and Haryana from January 2 to 5, and in isolated pockets thereafter for the following two days.
Similarly, dense to very dense fog conditions are likely in the early morning hours in some parts of Rajasthan on January 3 and 4, as well as in isolated pockets over north Madhya Pradesh on January 3.
While the biting cold will continue to prevail in the northern region over the next two days, no significant change in minimum temperature is expected in the eastern region.
In Central India, minimum temperatures are likely to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next three days, with no significant change thereafter.
