Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Subramanian Swamy on Thursday, condemned the statement of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for urging the police not to attack militant families.
While speaking to ANI, Swamy said, "She cannot give fatwa. She has given an opinion; opinion should be rejected. If terrorist are hiding in one place, they have to be attacked. There is only one answer to terrorism, elimination."
On Wednesday, while speaking at the passing out parade of recruits at the police training centre in Ganderbal district, The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said, "Militants kill people, police and burn their houses. But the security forces or police should not attack the families of militants as they attack theirs."
"Police must maintain the difference," she added.
Although the police were facing difficulties in discharging their duties, they had set an example of discipline and sacrifice, the Chief Minister said.
"As we are keen followers of the law, I should not get a complaint that the 'militants are destroying so we will do the same'," she said.
Mehbooba Mufti further said that efforts must be made to ensure that local militants surrender.
Her statements came hours after Hizbul commander Riyaz Naikoo issued a warning to police against attacking the families of militants in Kashmir. (ANI)
