Delhi High Court judge Justice Amit Sharma on Monday recused himself from hearing the bail plea of former JNU student Umar Khalid in a UAPA case related to the alleged larger conspiracy behind the riots here in February 2020.
The matter was listed for hearing before a division bench of Justice Prathiba M Singh and Justice Sharma.
This has to go before another bench, Justice Singh said.
"List before another bench, of which Justice Amit Sharma is not a member, on July 24," the court ordered.
Khalid, who was arrested by the Delhi Police in September 2020, has assailed a recent trial court order refusing to grant him bail in the case.
Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, and several others have been booked under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and provisions of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly being the "masterminds" of the February 2020 riots in the national capital, which had left 53 people dead and over 700 injured. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday rejected notices from opposition MPs calling for discussion on an Uttar Pradesh government order asking shops along the Kanwar Yatra route to display names of their owners and staff.
Opposition MPs had given notices under rule 267 seeking suspension of the business of the day to take up discussion on the issue.
Dhankhar said the notices were "neither in conformity to requirements of rule 267 nor to directions given by the chair... And so the same are not accepted". PTI

A speeding Audi car rammed into two stationary autorickshaws in Mumbai's Mulund area on Monday, leaving four persons injured. As of police, one of the them is critically injured.
The incident occurred around 8 AM on Dumping Road. The driver of the Audi fled the scene, leaving the car behind, which is now in the police impound.
The injured comprise two autorickshaw drivers and two passengers, with one passenger's condition deemed critical.

Addressing a press conference, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) leader Sarvan Singh Pandher said the farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' march will complete 200 days on August 31 and appealed to people to reach Khanauri and Shambhu points on the Punjab and Haryana border.
A joint statement issued by Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and KMM said farmers will march to district headquarters across the country and burn effigies of the ruling BJP on August 1.
On August 15, farmers will hold tractor marches across districts to press various demands, including a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops.
The India Meteorological Department’s Bhubaneswar centre has forecast heavy rainfall across many parts of Odisha over the next four days, owing to a persistent low-pressure area over north Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas.

A woman died and 34 people were injured when a DTC bus they were travelling in rammed into a pillar near Shivaji Park metro station in west Delhi on Monday morning, police said.
Punjab Bagh police station received a call regarding the accident at 7.42 am, they said.
A DTC electric bus, plying on the route between Mangolpuri and Anand Vihar Bus Terminal, crashed into the metro pillar. As the bus driver suddenly applied the brakes, an autorickshaw rammed into it from behind, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer said.
"A 45-year-old woman passenger of the bus was declared dead at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital while another passenger, a 55-year-old man, is in the ICU," the DCP said.
Police said 34 people, including the driver and conductor, were injured in the accident.
An FIR has been registered in the matter under sections 281 (negligent driving), 125A (endangering the life of others) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), they said.
