Parliament Security Breach: What Do We Know So Far

Five out of six people have been detained by Delhi Police, who were involved in hatching the conspiracy of the Parliament security lapse.

Chaos erupted in Lok Sabha on Wednesday as two individuals infiltrated the chamber, shouting slogans and releasing coloured gas. The breach coincided with the 22nd anniversary of a deadly terrorist attack on India's parliament in 2001 which resulted in the death of 14 individuals, including five attackers.

The incident occurred while lawmakers were in session in the Lok Sabha. The video shows a man running around the Lok Sabha as baffled MPs watch and make sense of the situation. Both houses were suspended for a short period before the session resumed.

Here is what we know so far.

1. Five out of six people have been detained by Delhi Police. Two people were caught inside Parliament, and two outside. Those who got into the chamber from the public gallery and let out yellow gas were arrested. Also, a man and a woman protesting with yellow smoke outside Parliament were held by local police. Another person under investigation has also been taken into custody, as reported by PTI.

2. Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered an enquiry into the security breach in Parliament. An enquiry committee has been set up under Anish Dayal Singh, DG, CRPF, with members from other security agencies and experts.

3. Entry for visitors, ex-MPs, and Personal Assistants to MPs is temporarily stopped in Parliament.

4. Identified individuals: Sagar Sharma from Lucknow and Manoranjan D from Mysuru were captured inside Lok Sabha. Those demonstrating outside were identified as Neelam from Hisar, Haryana, and Amol Shinde from Maharashtra.

5. Opposition in Rajya Sabha wants a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the security breach. The opposition also ttributed the security lapse in the new parliament to the ruling BJP, stating that it was not configured properly.

6. As per sources, six persons, out of whom five have been identified, came from outside the national capital and stayed at a residence in Gurugram, Haryana.
