Heavy rains lashed parts of Gujarat, throwing normal life out of gear and causing flood-like situation in low-lying areas in Surat, Banaskantha and Anand districts, with Palsana taluka in Surat recording 209 mm rainfall in a day till Saturday morning, officials said. As many as 380 people were shifted to safer places from rainfall-hit villages in Anand district by a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployed by the district administration after flooding in some villages of Borsad taluka caused due to heavy rains on Thursday, they said.
