Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Hiraben has been admitted to a hospital, but is said to be stable.
Hiraban, 100, lives in Gujarat's Gandhinagar with PM Modi's younger brother Pankaj Modi.
Hiraben has been admitted to UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre. The hospital said her condition is stable.
PM Modi visited the hospital in the afternoon to meet Hiraben.
"Prime Minister's mother is admitted to U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, Ahmedabad, and her condition is stable," said the hospital in a statement.
"She has been admitted to the hospital for a check-up. Her condition is normal. PM Modi's elder brother Somabhai is also present in the hospital," said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Dariapur Kaushik Jain to PTI.
Hiraben turned 100th in June. PM Modi met her in June when he was on a visit of Gujarat.
Details about the reason of her hospitalisation are not yet known.
"Maa…this isn't a mere word but it captures a range of emotions. Today, 18th June is the day my Mother Heeraba enters her 100th year. On this special day, I have penned a few thoughts expressing joy and gratitude," Modi tweeted after meeting her in June.
In the blogpost, Modi called her a "symbol of resilience," someone who finds happiness in others' joys.
“My mother is as simple as she is extraordinary. Just like all mothers,” he said.
