Pradyuman Murder Case: 'I Was Beaten Up And Forced To Confess,' Says Accused

The Class XI boy, who had confessed to the killing of the sever-year-old Pradyuman Thakur in Gurugram Ryan International School’s washroom, has retracted his statement saying the CBI had beaten him and forced him to say that he had murdered Pradyuman on September 8.

According to a Hindustan Times report, on Monday, the accused minor told CBI officials and a legal-cum-probation officer appointed by the Juvenile Justice Board that the investigators had forced him to confess to the crime. He added that the investigators had beaten him and recorded the confession in their own words.

On Saturday, a Gurugram juvenile court passed an order to send the teenager to an observation home until November 22. According to earlier reports, during the interrogation, the accused had also revealed that he used to attend piano classes with Pradyuman which helped him to easily coax Pradyuman.

Last week during the CBI interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime to the CBI in front of his father. However, the father later claimed that his child is innocent. He also alleged that the CBI is torturing his son under the pretext of interrogation.

Pradyuman, a class II student, was found dead in the school bathroom with his throat slit by a sharp-edged weapon on the morning of September 8.

On Wednesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Class XI student in connection with the killing of the seven-year-old boy. The minor accused admitted his crime saying that he had killed Pradyuman to delay the exams and parent-teacher meeting.

Earlier, the Gurgaon Police that probed the murder pinned the blame on school bus conductor Ashok Kumar who was arrested the day Pradyuman's body was found.'

Although no official confirmation has come till now about the retraction of the confession by the minor accused, Monday's development may bring a new twist the Pradyuman murder mystery.
