Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann had a 'narrow escape' from a boat accident during his visit to Jalandhar for the flood-affected areas. The boat carrying Mann lost its balance momentarily but averted the possible accident.
Bhagwant Mann was on his way to visit the flood-affected Gidarpindi village in Jalandhar this morning when the possible boat accident was averted.
A video was captured of the boat losing its balance momentarily but regaining soon enough to avert a capsize. Reportedly the boat was overloaded due to heavy rainfall in the last few days.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently took to Twitter to assure that the Punjab government would be providing full compensation to the people who lost their houses in the floods this monsoon. He also mentioned that he already visited Ferozpur and talked to the people affected by the devastating floods.
Mann wrote on Twitter, “Surveyed the flood-affected areas of Ferozepur... Listened to the people's sufferings... The floods have affected the elderly and all citizens... The government is providing all possible assistance... Once the situation normalizes, I advise the people. We will make proper arrangements with your cooperation... Until then, let's support each other in whatever way we can…”
The heavy rainfall has affected Punjab severely earlier this week. Bhagwant Mann visited the Nihala Lavera village to oversee relief and rescue operations during his tour of the affected areas. The Dhussi embankment in Mandala Channa of Jalandhar district was also inspected by Mann regarding the repair work of a breach in it.
