As of 5 pm, a voter turnout of over 68 per cent was recorded in Rajasthan, according to the Election Commission. Voting began at 7 am in Rajasthan on Saturday morning for 199 out of 200 assembly constituencies amid tight security arrangements while it ended at 6 pm. Results for the assembly polls will be declared on December 3.

After a high-pitch electoral campaign between the Congress and BJP, around five crore voters in Rajasthan exercised their franchise on Saturday to elect members of a new assembly. Polling began at 7 am in 199 out of 200 constituencies amid tight security arrangements and continued till 6 pm today. Due to the death of Congress candidate in Sriganganagar's Karanpur seat Gurmeet Singh Koonar, also the sitting MLA, election in this constituency has been adjourned.

The BJP is looking to defeat the ruling Congress and has based its electoral campaign around issues such as crime against women, appeasement, corruption and paper leaks. The Congress on the other hand, focused mainly on the works and performance of the Ashok Gehlot government, its welfare schemes and the promise of seven guarantees if the party retains power.

Apart from the BJP and Congress, other parties including CPI (M), RLP, Aam Aadmi Party,  AIMIM are also contesting the elections. The big players will be facing a difficult battle from the two tribal parties -- the Bhartiya Tribal Party (BTP) and Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) -- that will fight a close contest for the 25 reserved seats in the state.

Results for the assembly elections in Rajasthan will be declared on December 3. Follow the latest updates on polling day in Rajasthan:
