On Monday, the district administration of Shivamogga in Karnataka enforced Section 144 in the Ragi Gudda area of the town following clashes that occurred between two communities on Sunday evening. A total of five individuals were reportedly injured during a stone-throwing incident in Ragi Gudda.
According to media reports, a group of troublemakers hurled stones at several residences and vehicles in response to rumors regarding the incident that occurred during the Eid Milad procession. On Sunday evening, the Shivamogga Police used baton charges to disperse the crowd. The imposition of Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) serves as a precautionary measure to prevent any further conflicts in the town.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Shivamogga SP Mithun Kumar said, "There was a stone pelting incident in Ragigudda last evening. However, we managed to disperse the crowd and the situation is under control now. Around four to five people sustained minor injuries. Section 144 is in force in Ragi Gudda to prevent any untoward incident." (As reported by Hindustan Times)
