Officer Killed, 3 Soldiers Injured In Siachen Glacier Fire Incident: Army

The injured soldiers have been evacuated to the hospital for treatment, Army said.

One officer was killed while three soldiers were injured in a fire incident in Siachen glacier, the Army said on Wednesday.

“The injured have been safely evacuated from there to hospital. The incident took place around 3.30 AM,” the Army officials said. While the Army’s Regimental Medical Officer, Captain Anshuman Singh, succumbed to serious burn injuries, three other personnel suffered smoke inhalation and second-degree burns, the officials said. 

The injured have been safely air evacuated for further treatment, and their condition is stated to be stable.

As per reports, the blaze was successfully doused off before it could spread to the adjacent ammunition tent. Some tents were also damaged in the incident, the reports said. It is said that the initial cause behind the fire was a shot circuit. 

The investigation in underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the fire.
