The Tamil Nadu government has announced a 4 percent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for State government employees and teachers with retrospective effect from July 1 this year.
Tamil Nadu government had decided on taking a considerate view while scrutinising the various demands pressed upon it by state government employees and teachers.

According to an official release, the announcement is expected to benefit about 16 lakh State government employees, teachers, pensioners and family pensioners. The State exchequer will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 2,546.16 crore to fund this.
An official communiqué said that the State government had decided on taking a considerate view while scrutinising the various demands pressed upon it by State government employees and teachers, despite the heavy financial crunch the State was facing.
