The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday listed the items of the Pongal gift hamper for rice card holders in the state and those in Sri Lankan Tamil rehabilitation camps.

The hamper includes one kilogram of rice, one kilogram of sugar, and a full sugarcane.
The cost breakdown for these items is set at Rs 32/kg for rice, Rs 40/kg for sugar, and Rs 32/stick for sugarcane. Around 2.19 crore ration card holders in Tamil Nadu are expected to receive these hampers.
As per the order, the government has set aside Rs 238.92 crore for the initiative.
In the order issued by the Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection department, as of October 31, 20203, there are about 2.19 crore rice card holders in the state.
