The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert as Delhi-NCR is set to experience severe cold-wave-like conditions starting Monday.
The minimum temperature in Delhi on Monday dropped to 1.4 degrees with the national capital recording its lowest this season. On Sunday, the city recorded a temperature of 4.7 degrees Celcius.
Frosty winds whipped the plains of north and northwest India on Sunday, bringing minimum temperatures down to the range of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in many areas. It is going to turn even colder until western disturbances provide some relief starting Thursday.

A severe cold wave is likely to grip parts of northern India including the Delhi & National Capital Region till Wednesday, said the IMD on Sunday, January 15. According to the IMD, the temperature in Delhi-NCR may be around 2 degrees on Monday and Tuesday.
As many as 13 trains were running late in the Northern Railway region due to fog on Monday morning, said the Indian Railways.
