The educator identified as Karan Sangwan, L.L.M Criminal Laws in his class during the said video was discussing a recent bill that has been tabled in the Lok Sabha by the ruling government to replace British-era IPC, CrPC and Indian Evidence Act.
By asking students to not vote for politicians who only change the names of places, an educator from the online learning platform Unacademy has caused a stir. A video clip from his class has gone viral on social media where he asks students to elect politicians who are well-educated and doesn't focus only on changing names.
The educator identified as Karan Sangwan, L.L.M Criminal Laws in his class during the said video was discussing a recent bill that has been tabled in the Lok Sabha by the ruling government to replace British-era IPC, CrPC and Indian Evidence Act, reported HT.
To that Sangwan added that the time spent in learning the criminal laws will be wasted if this bill passes. He could reportedly be heard saying, “Even I don't know whether to laugh or cry because I also have a lot of bare acts, caseloads, and notes that I had prepared. It is hard work for everyone. You also got a job at your hand.”
According to an HT report, Sangwan then continued to say something that created a controversy, he said “But keep in mind one thing. Next time vote for someone who is well-educated so you don't have to go through this (ordeal) again. Ok?” He further added in Hindi, "Elect someone who is educated, who understands things. Don't elect someone who only knows changing names) Make your decision properly.”
The educator did not name any particular politician or party but the people on the internet is divided as some are accusing him of pushing a political agenda under the disguise of education.
