The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the renaming of Ayodhya airport to 'Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhyadham,' while also declaring its elevation to international status.

The Union Cabinet, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the green light to renaming the Ayodhya airport as 'Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhyadham'. This decision was announced during a recent Cabinet meeting, where it was also decided to upgrade the status of the airport to an international level.

The official release stated that the new name, paying homage to Maharishi Valmiki, the revered sage known for composing the epic Ramayana, adds a cultural dimension to the airport's identity. The inauguration of the airport took place on December 30, with Modi at the helm.

Elevating the Ayodhya airport to international status is deemed crucial for unlocking its economic potential and recognizing its global significance as a pilgrimage site. The move is expected to open doors to foreign pilgrims and tourists, contributing to the city's economic growth.
