Union Minister Anurag Thakur Slams Opposition Parties Ahead Of Patna Meeting

Union Minister Anurag Thakur criticized opposition parties on Monday, raising concerns over the upcoming meeting scheduled for June 23 in Patna. Thakur called on the opposition leaders attending the meeting to address issues of corruption and failing infrastructure in Bihar, highlighting the need for transparency within their alliance. Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, the minister questioned the viability of an alliance comprising corrupt parties and urged the leaders to identify their alliance's designated leader, according to Hindustan Times.

Thakur directed his criticism towards Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, urging opposition leaders to inquire about various contentious matters. Specifically, he highlighted the collapse of a ₹1,750 crore bridge on multiple occasions and the alleged ambulance scam involving substantial financial irregularities. Thakur emphasized the importance of seeking clarifications from Kumar regarding these issues.

Originally scheduled for June 12, the opposition meeting was postponed due to the pre-scheduled commitments of key figures like Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and MK Stalin. However, the rescheduled meeting on June 23 in Patna aims to bring together prominent opposition leaders to form a united front against the ruling NDA (National Democratic Alliance) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Notable attendees include Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, and Akhilesh Yadav.
