The project aims to enhance connectivity across various towns in the NCR (National Capital Region), including Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Delhi, and Meerut.
The Uttar Pradesh Government has given the green light for the construction of a 72 km-long Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor, an infrastructure project with estimated construction cost of 1,600 INR Crore. The approval came during a meeting chaired by UP Chief Secretary D S Mishra on Monday, December 04.
The proposed corridor is designed to link the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar with Ghaziabad’s 17 km priority section. This strategic project aims to enhance connectivity across various towns in the NCR (National Capital Region), including Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Delhi, and Meerut.
The financing structure for the RRTS project entails 50% of financial aid from the Uttar Pradesh Government, with an additional 20% contribution from the Centre. The remaining 30% will be jointly commissioned by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and the Greater Noida Authority.
In addition to the RRTS project, the UP government has directed the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) to launch feeder bus services connecting Jewar Airport to Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad. This move aims to ensure improved connectivity and accessibility for residents and commuters in the region.
