Uttar Pradesh: Muzaffarnagar Building Roof Collapses Killing 1, Trapping Nearly 25

11 people have been rescued from the accident site and the rescue operation is being conducted.

The roof of a building in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar collapsed on Sunday killing one person so far and trapping nearly 25.

Muzaffarnagar DM Aravind Mallappa Bangari told PTI, "22-25 people were trapped after the roof of a building collapsed in Jansath. One person lost his life, while 11 people have been rescued and are receiving treatment. The entire administration is present here for the rescue operation."

Reportedly, Muzaffarnagar SSP Abhishek Singh informed the media that around 5:30 pm on Sunday the police was alerted about the accident.

"It was reported at 5:30 in the evening that this complex fell. We have two lintel structures and we are removing the above lintel structure... The operations are on. It was a two-floor complex," said Muzaffarnagar SSP Abhishek Singh.

The office of CM Yogi Adityanath has informed that he has "directed the officials to provide proper treatment to the people injured in the building collapse accident in Jansath area of ​​​​Muzaffarnagar and to immediately reach the spot and expedite the relief work."
