(I apologise to the citizens of this country and the government. My video will hurt your sentiments and the army's respect and every soldier would want his army's respect to always be.")
Apologising several times in the video (now removed) he shared on social media, an army jawan spoke up against the 'Sahayak system' and the plight of the soldiers. After Lance Naik Roy Mathew unwittingly revealed the prevalent conditions of the existent British era colonial Buddy system in a sting operation by a news channel, he too sheds light into the same, accusing senior officers of treating jawans like 'slaves'.
The jawan complains about the lethargy of the government who only wakes up and orders an enquiry when a matter comes forth. Roy Mathew who revealed about the exploitation of soldiers by senior officers under the Sahayak system to a news agency, allegedly committed suicide after an inquiry was reportedly initiated against him post the sting. It is also being said that Roy wasn't aware that he was being secretly filmed by the website.
Echoing what BSF Tej Bahadur revealed in a video shared last year on the poor conditions of food served to the soldiers, the soldier says that the food served is barely enough to keep them alive, not for their requirements. "Sabse sasta sabzi,sabse sasta fruits, aur sabse ghatiya khana diya jata hai." (The cheapest of fruits and vegetables, pathetic food is served to us.") He however, says he has no proof to back his claim.
He does, however shows documents to prove that he visited the Prime Minister's Office and the office of Ministry of Defence to complain about his grievances twice on 21st January 2016 and on 28th October 2016. The only reply he received was a Disciplinary action and a court of Inquiry that was initiated against him, followed by a year of harassment, he claims.
He says he attempted to reach Sena bhawan on 18th January 2017 , but was denied entry. He then wrote a letter to General Bipin Rawat but didn't receive a reply and ultimately was served a chargesheet for speaking against senior officers.
The soldier raises a question in the video on the hypocrisy and the one sided applicability of rules in the Army. "agar hum log kisi bhi duty karne se mana karte hai, ya koi kanoon todte hai, toh turant punishment diya jata hai, lekin jab adhikari log sare aam kanoon todte hai, toh kya unke liye koi kayda kanoon nai hai. (When we refuse to follow our duty or break laws, we are punished immediately, but when officers blatantly break rules, are there no laws to deal with them? )"
The silence is proof that the constitution for the army is only for the jawans and not the officers, says Sindhav at the end of the video.
