The accident occurred on the Mumbai-Agra highway in Dhule around 10:45 am. The site of the accident is reportedly 300 km from Mumbai.
According to the reports, the brakes of the container truck failed when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it started hitting two motorcycles, a car and another container from the back.
A police official told the media that the truck ended up ramming into a hotel near the location of its break fail and then overturned.
The official reportedly said, "At least 10 people were killed and more than 20 injured."
Reports suggest that the container truck was on its way towards Madhya Pradesh when the accident took place.
Several victims affected in the accident were waiting at a bus stop at the site, reportedly.
After being alerted, the police rushed to the spot.
The injured persons were rushed to hospitals in Shirpur and Dhule, the police said.
