Whole Delhi Is Open Except For Small Part Of NDMC Area During G-20 Summit: Delhi Police

The Delhi Traffic Police has warned the people of the city to not be misled by information regarding the restrictions put out by the administration ahead of the G20 Summit. They mentioned that only a small part of the New Delhi Municipal Council area will have restrictions and rest of the city remains open on September 9 and 10.

Amid announcements and notifications regarding changes in the regular running of Delhi, the local Traffic Police reassured that 'whole Delhi will be open'. They mentioned that only a small part of the New Delhi Municipal Council area will have restrictions due to the G20 Summit taking place in Pragati Maidan on September 9 and 10.

On Tuesday, the Delhi Traffic Police posted a notification on X, formerly known as Twitter where they wrote, “It has come to our attention that some news agencies are misinterpreting and miscommunicating the restrictions that are to be imposed in New Delhi area in the wake of the G20 Summit, using misleading headlines which is causing confusion in the minds of the public and news readers."

What else changes?

According to the Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SS Yadav, “We can't allow cloud kitchen and food delivery services. Internet delivery companies such as Amazon and Flipkart will also not be allowed to operate in the controlled zone. Delivery executives can take medicines and essential items,”

"Cloud kitchens and food deliveries, or any commercial deliveries like Amazon deliveries, will not be allowed as we have stopped commercial services in the NDMC area," Special Commissioner of Police SS Yadav added.

''Essential services such as postal and medical services, sample collections by path labs will be allowed throughout Delhi'', he further elaborated.

Reportedly, the Delhi metro will remain open for the public except for the Supreme Court station.

Meanwhile, all Central government offices in the national capital will be closed from September 8 to 10 considering the G20 summit.

Delhi Police has beefed up security as eminent world leaders like US President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be arriving in the city to attend the G20 Summit.

The venue for the G20 Summit is Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
