The Chief Minister clarified to the delegation, led by its president K N Narasimha Murthy, Siddaramaiah, that the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission had hiked the electricity charges even before his government came to power.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said a meeting will be convened along with energy department officials and industries to resolve the issues of small, medium and micro industries, after a delegation of Karnataka State Small Industries Association (KASSIA) met him over the power tariff hike in the state

The Chief Minister clarified to the delegation, led by its president K N Narasimha Murthy, Siddaramaiah, that the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission had hiked the electricity charges even before his government came to power.

"It is a known fact that BJP is imposing its mistake on our government for political purposes," he said.

“The previous government has Rs 11,000 crore due for payment to Electricity Supply Companies (ESCOMs). Those dues will have to be cleared by us,” the chief minister was quoted as saying in an official statement.

The CM added that the damage caused by the financial indiscipline of the previous BJP government has to be resolved.

Energy Minister K J George suggested that delegation can appeal to KERC for reconsideration of its recommendation in hike of electricity tariff.
