A 50-year-old woman was crushed to death after she was run over by an SUV in Delhi’s Connaught Place on Sunday. Police said the victim’s saree got stuck under the wheels of the car and she was dragged for over 300 meters.
The driver of the SUV was arrested and was released on bail later. The accused was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the arrest.

The driver, a 20-year-old fashion designing student from Mumbai, Shreya Agarwal was arrested and later released on bail, police said.
A case has been filed in this case and further investigation is being conducted.
The victim, identified as Phoolwati, was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.
She reportedly lived in a shelter home near Baba Kharak Singh Marg.
According to police, though Agarwal tried to flee from the spot. However, she was chased by onlookers and was stopped at a police picket.
“Shreya Agarwal was arrested. She was not found to be drunk at the time of incident. We have registered a case of rash driving under Section 279 and for causing death due to negligence under Section 304A of IPC at Connaught Place police station,” Hindustan Times quoted Deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi) Madhur Verma as saying.
