Women entrepreneurs have suggested better transport management and a theme song to make the Delhi Shopping Festival a hit among the masses. These and a few other suggestions were made by them during a meeting with the stakeholders on Monday.
The Delhi Shopping Festival will be held next year from January 28 to February 26. Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) chairman Brijesh Goyal, who attended the meeting, said that the agency working on the Delhi Shopping Festival on behalf of the Delhi government was also present in the meeting.
Event organisers, exhibition organisers, salon owners, make-up artists, boutique owners, fashion designers, jewellery traders, all of them attended the meeting and gave their piece of mind.
Malvika Sahni, President of CTI Women's Council, said that the month-long festival will require a sizable workforce to manage it. "If the government gives us any responsibility in this regard, we will fulfil it, we can connect thousands of women to the festival in Delhi," she said.
Salon and make-up artist Nirmal Randhawa said that February is the peak season for weddings and there might be traffic problems in Delhi. "The government will also have to work on better transportation. Many people will also come to Delhi from outside in the festival," she said.
NGO and exhibition trader Shalini Jain said that fashion, beauty, entertainment, and cultural activities should also be added to the festival. Lovely Arora said that big events all over the world have a theme song and said the shopping festival in the city too deserves one.
"Share it on Radio, FM, TV, Social Media. With this the fame of the festival will grow and spread rapidly," she added. According to Goyal, the team that is organising the shopping festival is searching for five big places in Delhi to organise exhibitions.
He said that these kinds of meetings will continue. The festival organising team is also visiting the markets. Suggestions will also be taken from other market associations, he said.
