Zainab Al Ghonaimy, a 73-year-old woman in the besieged Gaza Strip, runs a shelter for abused and abandoned women. Despite advice and efforts to move her, Zainab has remained in her home in Gaza City, which has faced incessant bombing since October 7 despite appeals for a ceasefire by the United Nations and other global bodies. She is just one among the thousands of women - including pregnant and disabled residents - who remain stuck in Gaza without access to water, electricity or aid.
