The Delhi Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the allegations of sexual harassment against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Sharan Singh is likely to submit its report to the Supreme Court by next week.
''The investigation report related to the two cases with all the evidence collected so far will be submitted in the court by next week. Currently, the investigation is underway and more statements are being recorded,'' a police official said.
The statement of the police comes hours after the protesting wrestlers including Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and others, met with Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday. Following the meeting, they had agreed to suspend their protest till June 15 after Thakur assured them that a charge sheet against Singh will be filed by then and the WFI elections will be held by the end of the month.
According to officials, the Delhi Police has questioned over 180 people including witnesses, Singh's colleagues, relatives, family members, and so on, to understand Singh's behaviour. The police have said that they are further examining call records, and videotapes to ascertain the timeline of certain days and events and corroborate with the complainants' statements.
If needed, the police may also revisit Singh's residences in Delhi and Gonda to collect more evidence, he added.
