On the cold, dark winter evening of December 4, 2021, the Indian Army’s Special Forces, acting on specific intelligence, laid an ambush for insurgents in Mon district of Nagaland. On that fateful day, six innocent people were killed in the firing on a vehicle suspected of ferrying insurgents. Two other passengers injured in the incident were evacuated to a nearby hospital, by the Army personnel. The incident turned out to be a case of ‘mistaken identity’.
