The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled Class 10 exams and postponed Class 12 exams in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases. The situation will be reviewed on June 1 and a decision taken subsequently. A notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the exams. There has been growing demands for cancellation of the exams.

The Southwest monsoon, which brings over 75 per cent of India’s rainfall during June-September, will be normal this year, Skymet Weather has said. The northern plains and parts of the Northeast could be rain deficient. The India Meteorological Department will release its forecast soon.

Iran has blamed Israel for a sabotage attack on its underground Natanz nuclear facility that damaged its centrifuges— imperilling talks over Tehran’s tattered N- deal and throwing light on a shadow war between the two. Israel rarely claims responsibility for covert operations but its media reported that it had orchestra­ted a blackout at the nuclear facility.
