A magistrate court in Mumbai has granted bail to businessman Raj Kundra, who was arrested in a case related to pornographic films two months ago. Kundra’s associate Ryan Thorpe was also granted bail. Kundra, 46, had claimed in his bail plea that there was no evidence of him being “actively” inv­olved in creation of porn content, and that he was being made a “scapegoat”.

The Union education ministry has formed a 12-member committee to develop new curricula for school, early childhood, teacher and adult education. Tasked with developing four national curriculum frameworks, the panel will be headed by National Education Policy 2020 drafting committee chairperson K. Kasturirangan, a former chief of the Indian Space Research Organisation.

The UP government will enact a law for population control “at the right time”, CM Yogi Adityanath has said. In July, the government unveiled a policy to stabilise the population in India’s most populous state, and reduce maternal and infant deaths, in a time-bound manner. Adityanath had called rising population a “hurdle in development”.
