Azad Kashmir Makes Little Horse Sense

If wishes were horses, Azad Kashmir would have been something else. In this instance, it’s just a horse—a fine steed, we might say. It belongs to Usman Khan, the first Pakistani equestrian to qualify for the Olympics. He bought it in 2019 and paid US$1,000 for a new name. But this horse is of a different colour. Indian officials accused him of making a political statement and the Australia-based Usman, 38, tried to rein up the row: “The horse was not named in response to the lockdown in Indian Kashmir.” The feud is Here To Stay, the call Azad Kashmir neighed and nodded to before Usman renamed it.
