Don't insist on your physician giving you antibiotics.
If your doctor gives you a prescription for antibiotics, ask why.
Don't take antibiotics for viral infections such as flu and bronchitis.
Don't stop taking prescribed antibiotics until you've completed the regimen, even if you feel better. Not only do you risk a relapse, but failing to finish a prescription could allow the resistant bacteria to survive and then reproduce.
If you have an artificial implant in your body, be sure your dentist knows. A simple teeth cleaning can release bacteria from your mouth into your body; the micro-organisms can lodge on the implant and cause infection.
Maintain your medical history.
If symptoms don't subside, immediately go for a blood test to check for antibiotic resistance. Only then take recourse to stronger antibiotics.
