Bangalore

New arrivals include Chettinad restaurant Annachi. Just three months old, it has already endeared itself to Bangaloreans. Nandu Masala (crab masala) in combination with idli, dosa or appam is a hot favourite here. Soraputtu (scrambled baby shark) and Kadai 65 (Japanese quail) are other specialities. A total ban of fattening coconut, measured use of oil and a no-no to green chillies make Annachi a default diet-recipe joint.

As for Grasshopper, you just can’t walk in here; entry is strictly through reservation and space is limited. There are no menu cards either. Trust the chef and be prepared to be served with an eclectic veg/non-veg seven-course lunch or dinner.

Bangalore’s bars and pubs have always been popular, and the latest additions are no exception. The F-Bar & Lounge and Spinn are among the places to go to and be seen at. The energy of the young and good-looking fills Spinn, especially during the weekends. An old colonial-style bungalow transformed into a swanky nightclub, it has a courtyard, an open terrace, a private enclosure of sorts, an airy lounge and a large two-level dance floor. On the menu are some interesting cocktails and inventive categories like Vintage Spinn, Regular Spinn, Essential Spinn and so on.

A little distance away, Zero G occupies the 10th floor of a building full of MNC IT companies and banks, establishing some of its clientele. Additional perks here are a breathtaking view of the city and the cool breeze.
