Says she about her fashion education with mother-in-law: "She is so old yet manages to dress up so elegantly." A graduate from the Parsons School of Design, New York, Aarti feels her marriage into the Kapoor khandaan provided her the inspiration to take up fashion professionally. "Everyone in this family dresses up so tastefully that the fashion sense is sure to rub off on anyone around," says Aarti who loves to wear Gucci and Manish Malhotra designs. Her clothes, she says, dress up "today’s woman".

Indian concepts blend with Western cuts in Aarti’s designs. Her clothes will be available at the forthcoming Zacharie retail store in Delhi and at Cheemo showroom in Mumbai. Incidentally, fashion is not the only thing on her plate. She also plans to float a television production company called Asees Productions. "It will make short films mainly for the overseas market," says Aarti who is now based in Delhi after getting separated from her husband last year. Shobita Dhar
