Queen’s Proclamation

After marriage, the man moves to his mother-in-law’s house.

The family property is inherited by the youngest daughter.

In the absence of a daughter, the woman may adopt a daughter from her brother’s family.

All children take the name of the mother’s clan.

The maternal uncle (woman’s brother) calls the shots in the clan.

A married man cannot attend his wife’s clan’s meetings/gatherings but his children can.

Other daughters get a share of the property but not the sons.
