Watch: Indian Women Worship Kangaroo Dustbin Mistaking It For Deity

A video clip from India has become the latest sensation on the internet as some women are seen worshipping a kangaroo dustbin placed for the first time outside the premises of a temple apparently mistaking it for deity.

Women dressed in sari are seen anointing it with water, applying tilak and paying floral tribute to the kangaroo dustbin.

People assume that the women might have mistaken the kangaroo dustbin for a deity as animals are venerated in Hinduism. But, what has taken everyone by surprise is that exotic kangaroos, unlike cows or other animals, have little connection with the Hindu mythologies.

The act of Kangaroo worship seemed as if it is just out of Aamir Khan movie PK where he demonstrates how a simple stone gets converted into a god, which turned controversial.

According to this report by The Hindustan Times, thousands of people had thronged a ‘magical handpump’ in Fatehgarh Sahib district in Punjab in 2016 with the belief that its water can cure all their ills and end all grief. Several such stories have been reported from various parts of the country at various points in time.

Another report had suggested that India is a "land of believers" as only 33,000 people declared themselves atheists in the 2011 census that put the country's population at 1.2 billion.
