What To Do In Case Of An Assault On A Train

  • Raise your voice and tell the offender to stop immediately
  • Call the tte/train superintendent/police guards and demand action
  • Pull the chain to bring immediate attention to the situation
  • Call the GRP. If there’s no official on board, contact an officer on the platform. Or, inform the ticket counter that you are “breaking journey”. You can travel with the same ticket on another train.
  • File an fir with the grp. Though it is best to report the incident immediately, you could also go home and write about it in detail. Go with your ticket to file the fir.
  • Write to Railways Public Grievances Executive Director, Room 471, Rail Bhawan, New Delhi 110 001. Attach a copy of both the fir and your ticket(s).
  • Contact the women’s cell in your state.
  • If a foreign tourist, contact your embassy immediately.
