Since then, Egypt have won a total of seven titles - the most of any nation in AFCON history - followed by Cameroon (5) and Ghana (4). Senegal, long considered to be one of the continent's most underperforming teams given the talent on display, finally collected their maiden title two years earlier, beating Mohamed Salah's Egypt in a penalty shootout.
