With the Asia Cup just over a month away, both batters face personal struggles to get fit and are unlikely to feature in India's squad.

While Rahul missed a chunk of the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL), Iyer, who underwent surgery on his back ahead of the premier tournament, missed it in its entirety. Rahul, who had surgery on his injured right thigh, recently posted a video of him training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

With not much time left before the squad for the Asia Cup is announced, there is a high possibility that both batters will have to wait their turn, as the BCCI will not want to rush their return in any way.

Nevertheless, with the ODI World Cup to be played later this year in India, both players will certainly be eyeing a comeback. As per the ICC's deadline, teams need to submit their squads for the showpiece tournament by August 29. Jasprit Bumrah is another stalwart on his road to recovery. If reports are to be believed, Bumrah is 70% fit and could be in contention for India's Ireland tour in August.
