The day belonged to Angelo Mathews, who scored 199 runs to help Sri Lanka post a big total, and Bangladesh spinner Nayeem Hasan, who too impressed with his figures of 6/105. Starting at 258 for four wickets, Sri Lanka lost their last six wickets for 79 runs. In reply of the total, Mahumudul Hasan Joy (31 not out) and Tamim Iqbal (35 not out) stitched an unbeaten partnership for the opening wicket to keep Bangladesh in the hunt.
