Best Kickboxing Fight Of 2023: Chingiz Allazov Finishes Superbon In World Title Thriller

The ONE Fight Night 6 main event showdown between ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon Singha Mawynn and Azerbaijani-Belarusian challenger Chingiz “Chinga” Allazov packed an incredible amount of action and drama into several captivating minutes.

When the two collided in Bangkok, Thailand, this past January, Superbon was widely regarded as the greatest pound-for-pound kickboxer on the planet.

But with his ultra-aggressive style, lightning-quick speed, and show-stopping right hand, Allazov ended the Thai king’s run of dominance. All those ingredients make this battle the best kickboxing fight of 2023.

Superbon entered the contest looking like an unstoppable force, having defeated a trio of modern-day legends including Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, Giorgio Petrosyan, and Marat Grigorian. Truthfully, it appeared as if the Thai king would hold the kickboxing belt for years to come.

For his part, Allazov had won three straight bouts – including a competitive three-round tournament finale against the aforementioned Sitthichai – to claim the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix Title in March 2022. In addition to the silver belt, he was awarded a shot at Superbon’s gold.

While there were a few delays, the stage was ultimately set for an epic showdown at ONE Fight Night 6 in January 2023, and it delivered just that.

Allazov was a whirlwind of activity through the bout’s opening minutes, as he mixed up stances, threw heavy boxing combinations, and pressured his foe with kicks to the legs, head, and body.

Superbon took a more measured approach, but he kept the hometown crowd inside Bangkok’s Impact Arena on the edge of their seats as he looked to counter with his world-renowned kicking power.

Perhaps sensing he held a speed and power advantage, “Chinga” put his foot on the gas pedal in the second frame. Just 30 seconds into the round, the Azerbaijani-Belarusian challenger landed a concussive right hand flush to the World Champion’s jaw that sent him crashing to the canvas.

Though dazed, Superbon returned to his feet and was determined to continue.

However, just seconds later, the kickboxing superstar ate another right hand that knocked him down to the mat again.

Superbon would get back to his feet once more, but Allazov – feeling the World Title within his grasp – blitzed forward behind a massive right hand to score the third and final knockdown of the headline affair. Just like that, he became the new ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion.

Simply put, this contest delivered heart-pounding action from the opening bell to the highlight-reel finish, leaving the global fan base in awe. 

That action, coupled with the blockbuster nature of a ONE World Title bout, makes this the best kickboxing fight of 2023.
