Sydney Sixers have already punched their ticket to the final, but their opponent for the trophy bout will only be revealed after the Challenger between Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers. Heat have already spurned one chance of reaching the final, having lost to the Sixers in the Qualifier, while Strikers have reached this stage by beating Perth Scorchers in the Knockout. Brisbane Heat finished first in the regular season, winning seven of their ten games and losing just one. Adelaide Strikers, meanwhile, came fourth, two points behind reigning champions Perth Scorchers, whom they then beat in the Knockout. Heat, meanwhile, spurned the chance to make it to the final after an unsuccessful chase against Sydney Sixers. The regular season table-toppers were only required to chase 152 to cross that threshold but fell some way off the mark in the end.
Both Strikers and Heat have won the Big Bash League once. While the Adelaide side claimed their maiden win in 2017-18, the Brisbane outfit had done so five years earlier in 2012/13. They are, however, far behind the leaders Perth Scorchers, who have reigned triumphant in the competition five times.
