In an unprecedented achievement for the nation, the Canada men's cricket team has qualified for its first-ever T20 World Cup after a 39-run win against Bermuda in Hamilton on Saturday. The victory assured Canada of a place in next year’s tournament. Following the win, Canada and Bermuda finished level on points in the double round-robin qualifying group, which also included Panama and the Cayman Islands, but the Canadian team progressed due to a better run rate. Next year's T20 World Cup, which will be held in the United States and the West Indies in June 2024, has been expanded to 20 teams. This will be the ninth edition of the competition.

Middle-order batter Navneet Dhaliwal’s 45 helped Canada put up a total of 132 for four. They got there thanks to a bumper 20 runs coming off the final over. In the second innings, Canada skittled Bermuda for 93 in 16.5 overs.
Left-arm pacer Kaleem Sana and medium-fast bowler Jeremy Gordon scalped three wickets each for Canada as Bermuda capitulated, losing their last six wickets for just 30 runs.
