Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have released English Test skipper Ben Stokes and Ambati Rayudu ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction. It also confirmed that MS Dhoni will be leading the Chennai franchise yet again for the forthcoming season. Among players to be released are Kyle Jamieson, Sisanda Magala and Dwaine Pretorius. Stokes had joined the MS Dhoni-led side ahead of the IPL 2023 but could only play a handful of games due to his knee injury.
"England Test captain, all-rounder Ben Stokes has made himself unavailable for IPL 2024 to manage his workload and fitness," CSK said in a statement on their website on Thursday.
"The Chennai Super Kings management is supportive of Ben in his decision to manage his workload with England playing a 5-Test series in India before the IPL and then the T20 World Cup in June 2024," the statement added.
