How does the forecast look like on Day 2?
The weather gods are expected to make an appearance in Greater Noida on Day 2 of the one-off Test between Afghanistan and New Zealand. However, we should get a good day's play without any major interruptions.
The toss has been officially delayed due to wet outfield, and the match is unlikely to get underway as per schedule. The wait for the toss, and the first ball continues.
Well, we have an official update, and the next pitch inspection is scheduled at 12:00 PM IST. Just like yesterday, we could have another early lunch.
New day, same story! It's the wet patches again that is causing problems for play to start. However, we still have over an hour for the next inspection and we keep our fingers crossed.
As we wait for the conditions to get better, do check out New Zealand's squad for the Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE.
The inspection is done, and things don't really look that promising. We might be far away from the first ball being ball - if at all there is any play on Day 2. Both teams are still in their respective hotels. The next official inspection at 3pm.
We are a good two hours away from the next pitch inspection, and with every little update, it just feels like Day 2 could follow just how Day 1 panned out. However, we keep our fingers crossed, and hope for some good news. We will be back when we have an update.
We are under 60 minutes before our official pitch inspection. The New Zealand players have kept themselves busy by warming up, and with net sessions. The ground staff continue to put in the work, pushing for some play on Day 2.
The umpires are out there in the middle for an inspection. We might have some news very soon. However, it feels very unlikely we will get any overs even on Day 2. Frustrating!
And it’s officially Stumps as Day 2 has been called off due to wet outfield. The Zealand players were out there practising but the outfield was not good enough for play just yet. The wait will continue. Credit to the ground staff as they replaced the grass patches, made use of fans as well as super soppers. We will catch you on Day 3 as we hope for some action. Toss at 9:00 AM
