Hosts chased down target with ease to level series 1-1
Bangladesh rode Nahid Rana's fifer to notch up a six-wicket win against New Zealand in the second T20 international and level the three-match series 1-1 in Mirpur on Monday (April 20).
Fast bowler Nahid claimed his second five-wicket haul in 10 career ODIs to help bundle the Kiwis out for 198 in 48.4 overs. The hosts got to the target of 199 with 14.3 overs to spare.
Opener Tanzid Hasan hit a fluent 58-ball 76 and Najmul Hossain Shanto made a patient 50 but soon retired hurt with cramps in the heat. Bangla Tigers skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz replaced Shanto and later said the batter should be available to play the series decider on Thursday in Chattogram.

New Zealand, batting first, struggled to deal with Nahid’s speed on a slow surface. Opener Nick Kelly smashed 83 off 102 balls, including 14 fours to bring up his first fifty in his fifth ODI. But Kelly received little support from the rest of the batting line-up as no other batter crossed 20.
“In the previous match I gave away 65 runs. The execution was not perfect,” Nahid said. “Today, I focused on execution and it worked." Nahid was well supported by Shoriful Islam with 2-32, Richard Hossain and Taskin Ahmed.
