Fixture: Delhi Capitals vs Gujarat Titans
Series: Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026
Venue: Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi
Date: Wednesday, April 08, 2026
Time: 7:30 PM IST
In their previous outing on April 4, 2026, the Delhi Capitals (DC) secured a dominant 6-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. This win propelled Delhi to the top of the points table and extended their perfect start to the season.
Despite a rocky start where they lost early wickets, DC managed to chase down Mumbai's total of 162/6 with 11 balls to spare.
For the second match in a row, the 22-year-old Sameer Rizvi was the hero. Coming in as an Impact Player, Rizvi smashed a career-best 90 off 51 balls, including 7 fours and 7 sixes. It was the third-highest score by an Impact Player in IPL history.
DC’s bowlers restricted a powerful MI lineup. Mukesh Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with 2/26, while Axar Patel remained incredibly economical, finishing with 1/22 in his 4 overs.
In their previous outing on April 5, 2026, the Gujarat Titans (GT) suffered a narrow 6-run loss to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. In a high-scoring encounter, the Royals successfully defended a target of 210 in a game that swung wildly until the final over.
Dhruv Jurel was the star of the first innings, smashing a masterful 75 off 42 balls (including 5 sixes) in his new role at No. 3. He was well-supported by Yashasvi Jaiswal (55) and a blistering start from 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who hit 31 off just 18 balls.
In the chase, Gujarat looked comfortably placed at 107/1 in the 11th over. However, Ravi Bishnoi completely dismantled the middle order, taking 4 wickets for 41 runs. His dismissal of Sai Sudharsan (73 off 44) sparked a collapse from which the Titans never fully recovered.
Titans' Ashok Sharma clocked the fastest ball of the tournament so far at 154.2 kmph, though his 1/37 wasn't enough to prevent the RR onslaught.
Rain has played spoilsport and has interrupted in two consecutive games in the IPL 2026. Fans can get the Delhi weather forecast for the DC vs GT IPL 2026 match here.
The pitch at Arun Jaitley Stadium in the first match didn't provide as much assistance to the batters as the other venues. Fans can check the pitch report for the match here.
Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill is confirmed to return to the starting XI for tonight’s clash against the Delhi Capitals (April 8, 2026), after recovering from a muscle spasm.
The injury, which affected his neck and back, forced him to sit out the match against the Rajasthan Royals on April 4. In his absence, Rashid Khan led the side, and the Titans fell just short in a 210-run chase.
His opening partner Sai Sudharsan confirmed on the eve of the match that Gill is absolutely fine and will lead the team at the Arun Jaitley Stadium tonight.
Ashok Sharma made waves in the IPL 2026 season by delivering the fastest ball of the tournament so far. Representing the Gujarat Titans, the 23-year-old pacer from Rajasthan clocked a remarkable 154.2 kmph during a league match against the Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 4, 2026.
The delivery was a searing yorker bowled to Rajasthan Royals batter Dhruv Jurel.

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan have started like they always do. More in control and less risk. They have still found boundaries with sheer timing. They know they will have to bat deep and make sure they have platform before the finishers come to the stage. GT need a big partnership here.
Delhi Capitals were elated to dismiss Sai Sudharsan. Mukesh Kumar got a ball to seam enough for Sai Sudharsan to drag it back to the stumps. But Jos Buttler entered the crease on a different mood and smashed everything that he has found hittable. Started with taking on Axar Patel and then pummeled Mukesh Kumar during his third over. Buttler has looked in golden touch and he is nearing fifty now.
Jos Buttler has hit a haif-century for Gujarat Titans. The former England captain is posing a threat to the DC bowlers, and his partnership with GT captain Gill, could be key for their side to achieve a big score in the game.
GT: 77-1 (7 Overs)
Buttler could not add more to his score as he was cleaned bowled by Kuldeep Yadav with DC making inroads. The Englishman was well on his way towards a big score but Kuldeep spun through the Englishman's defence, castling him over.
GT: 101-2 (10 Overs)
Shubman Gill has been joined by Shubman Gill and the duo are looking to make quick runs. The duo have coughed up 54 runs for the third-wicket and are looking to steady with the wicket still looking good for batting.
GT: 133-2 (13 Overs)
Superb batting from Gill and Washington as the duo look to up the ante in the middle-overs. GT are 150 inside 15 overs and will look to provide some fireworks, given their big-hitters are yet to come down the order. DC, on the other hand, need to apply the pressure.
GT: 152-2 (14 Overs)
Four overs remain and Gill and Washington are still at the crease. DC need to put the ball in the right areas if they are find success or else the GT batters could find the sweet spot of the bat and hit them out of the stadium.
GT: 168-2 (16 Overs)
GT skipper Shubman Gill made 70 as he was dismissed by Delhi Capitals just when the former were looking for a major score. Gill's 70 came off 45 balls but good news for Gujarat is that Washington is still at the crease as GT eye towards 200.
GT: 185-3 (18 Overs)
Delhi Capitals require 211 for victory. GT end up with 210 after scintillating knocks from Jos Buttler, Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar. GT captain played a blinding knock of 45-ball 70 that included five sixes. For Delhi, Mukesh Kumar picked up two wickets.
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
20 runs have come off the first two overs for the Delhi Capitals chasing 210 runs. They scored 14 runs from the first over. Once again, there is no swing and seam moment on offer, and this is good signs for DC.
DC: 20/0 (2 Overs)
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
Delhi Capitals need 171 runs in 90 balls. DC have started well in the run-chase with 40 runs on the board and no wickets. KL Rahul is really timing the ball well and is given good company by Pathum Nissanka. GT need a wicket and badly.
DC: 40/0 (5 Overs)
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
What a batting performance from DC openers - KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka. The two have put the GT bowlers under pressure with their smart batting. It's the ideal start for the home team especially chasing a record total for win.
DC: 76/0 (8 Overs)
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
GT finally have a wicket as they have sent back the dangerous Pathum Nissanka. The SL batter was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna for 41(24) as the visitors look to make inroads.
DC: 97/1 (9 Overs)
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
Rashid Khan has swung the pendulum in GT's favour! The Afghan bowler has scalped two wickets in an over including the marauding Sameer Rizvi. Super bowling this and DC have now backs against their walls.
DC: 101/3 (10 Overs)
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
David Miller has arrived to the crease and looks to score one-two runs with KL Rahul still there. The Indo-South Africa pair need to make their bat do all the talk if they are to chase down 211.
DC: 130/3 (13 Overs)
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
David Miller has walked off after injuring his thumb and in walked skipper Axar Patel. However, his stay was short-lived as Rashid Khan removed the all-rounder cheaply.
DC: 135/4 (14 Overs)
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
GT conceded 16 runs of Ashok's over that included an over-throw. KL Rahul is playing blinding knock and it seems Gill & co need something miraculous to stop the DC juggernaut.
DC: 158/4 (16 Overs)
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
Oh! What a disappointing way to get out. KL Rahul flashes his bat at the wide ball off Siraj's delivery and ends up edging it to the gloves of Jos Buttler. Wife Athiya Shetty looks glum as KL walks back frustrated.
DC: 166/6 (17 Overs)
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
Mohammad Siraj has ended up conceding 23 runs off the 19th over. Miller, who had earlier walked off injured, comes back to give hope to the DC outfit. Siraj and Gill look frustrated.
DC: 198/6 (19 Overs)
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
David Miller cannot hit the last ball as Prasidh Krishna delivers a dot ball with Kuldeep Yadav running out at the other end. GT win by 1 run as Delhi fans cannot believe the shock.
DC: 209/8 (20 Overs)
GT: 210-4 (20 Overs)
